The Echo of What Remains Collected Poems of Wanda Lea Brayton
— Inspired by the poem "Words, Wide Night" by Carol Ann Duffy
Ethereal,
this unending shelter
above our heads -
so cool with blue,
this verdant regalia.
Our limbs twined, we reach for refuge
within the turning breath of leaves.
Canopy-draped,
we vie for immortality.
In the dawning of your eyes,
there is transformation;
in descending shadows,
foliage sways within quiet song.
